As we are specialist WordPress developers, this guide is for websites that are built in WordPress.
The problem: When you share your website in Facebook, it could look like this ugly looking post below.
How to fix this:
Install the Yoast SEO plugin. If you already have this installed then head over to the Dashboard
Then make sure that Advanced is switched on then click Save.
If you dont see “Features” then just skip this step.
Then click Facebook and insert a default image. This is the image that will be used when the page you are sharing has no image.
Now what you need to do is go to each post or page and look for the Yoast SEO, Social sharing tab and fill in the title, descriptions and image you’d like to use each time this post / page is shared in Facebook.
Once you have done that, go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing and enter the url and hit Debug.
If the results look different then just hit “Scrape again”. What this does is look re-indexes your page for the latest updates.
We have only covered the minimum required to get your Facebook share looking good but there are a few other things you need to set up on the plugin to get the best results so feel free to try them all out your self as they are pretty straight forward.
